095: The Brand ED Bullet, Issue 30
Robby: You're listening to the Brand
ED Bullet from the Brand ED Podcast.
Four freaky fast Friday wins to
get you going for your weekend.
Let's go.
Win number one, something to try.
What do you do with the dreaded
double T the tedious task?
You'd love to delegate those tedious
tasks to a virtual assistant, or maybe
even your college age, son or daughter,
but showing them how to do that.
Tedious tasks can take far too long.
And so like me, you
figure it's just faster.
If I do it myself.
Check out ScribeHow.
ScribeHow it comes to the rescue and
helps you share a how tos in seconds.
It will help you automatically generate
a step-by-step guides for any task.
All you do is sign up, add the Chrome
extension to your Chrome browser.
It also happens to work with
my privacy first browser.
My favorite of choice is called Brave.
I'll put a link to that in the show notes.
Click the extension record your
screen . That pops into a step-by-step.
How to document.
You can check out the how to
example I created by clicking
the link in the show notes.
It's a, how to that shows
you the steps for achieving.
The feedback that I gain every time
I send out my four win weekly email.
I'm curious if you could ask me for
one, how to, what would that be?
How to hit email inbox zero.
How to summarize your
entire business on a napkin.
Email me and let me know, uh, how to,
that you would love to know from me.
Win number two, something
a client recently asked.
A client recently asked for help with
her upcoming speaking opportunity.
She was going to be speaking to a
group of business professionals.
So here are a few of the questions
that we worked through together.
I often use them for any
talk that I give also.
First we asked:
What's the one thing you want them to do?
Or what's the one thing you want
them to know from your talk?
And then secondly, why
do they need to do that?
Or why do they need to know that.
Number two, we ask, how will the audience
feel about your topic at the beginning
of your talk and how do you want
them to feel at the end of your talk?
Emotion is powerful and
transforming the emotions.
In a talk or a speech.
I can leave a powerful
impact with your audience.
Number three, we asked, what do you
want this talk to do for your business?
This puts your business hat on
and make sure you think through.
How this talk can and should
impact your own business.
And number four, we asked what's
your opening line and closing line.
Here's a hint.
You want to script out your opening
and closing line word for word.
Here's why it's the first thing
your audience will hear you say.
And it's the last thing that they'll
remember because they're so important.
I encourage you to script
those two lines out.
What's the best piece of speaking
advice you've heard or learned,
email me back and let me know.
Win number three, something to think about
Here are my three least favorite
things about the mad dash to
start a personal brand business.
The personal branding space, often
rewards charisma over character.
Confuses success for satisfaction.
And puts rest on layaway.
Have you ever felt that pressure
, the pressure to be flashy, the
pressure to make it happen,
the pressure to grind it out.
Maybe that's just me.
Win number four, something personal.
For the longest time I let
my work week happened to me.
You know what I mean?
Somehow this external thing, which
really isn't a thing at all would dictate
my week, week after week after week.
And that makes for a wild ride.
It's really the tail wagging the dog.
Until it finally dawned on me.
Wait, I'm not a dog and
I don't have a tail.
Now my work week is far more predictable
because I am the one that predicts it.
My current rhythm goes,
something like this.
On Mondays.
I work on my business and
don't schedule any meetings.
Tuesday through Friday, I have focused
work time in the morning, and then
I schedule my meetings after lunch.
Most every day I wake up early.
I read, I pray.
I enjoy a cup of coffee.
I do my exercise.
And then I will often
finish by reading a poem.
On Friday and Saturday mornings.
I usually meet with a friend for coffee.
And we'll go take a walk together.
If the weather is nice.
And as a bonus on Monday mornings
and Tuesday evenings, I regularly
meet with a group of young men.
They're really studs to talk about the
stuff that really truly matters in life.
what's been most helpful for you and
how you organize your work week instead
of letting it just happen to you.
I love to learn from you.
Shoot me an email and let me know.
