081: The Brand ED Bullet, Issue 20
Robby: You're listening to the Brand
ED Bullet from the Brand ED Podcast.
Four freaky fast Friday wins to
get you going for your weekend.
Let's go.
Win number one, something to try.
Finding the right word to use matters.
Whether you're writing copy for
an email you're, alliterating
your sales page heading, or you're
pulling a proposal together.
At least one time every day, I find
my way to what's called the reverse
dictionary on onelook.com and you
should definitely bookmark this gem.
Think of it as a no frills,
geeky thesaurus on steroids.
With one looks reverse dictionary.
You can explore synonyms and related
concepts like a typical thesaurus,
but you can also find words.
If you only know the definition,
like quote before the flood,
that would be dinosaurs.
You can also get a list of words
around a category, like green fruit.
After your mind, recovers from the
genius of the reverse dictionary,
check out the one, look homepage
for more power pack, insanity.
Like you can find phrases
that contain the word winter.
Definitely go check out one look.com
and use their reverse dictionary
Win number two, something
a client recently asked.
A client recently asked for some help
explaining the value he brings when
clients choose his consulting offer.
I took him through a series of prompts
where we outlined his basic process.
Asked why each step matters and
then identified three benefits, a
client enjoys when choosing him.
And finally we gave his
process a differentiator score.
This becomes marketing content he
can use to educate his audience
and differentiate himself from a
host of other similar consultants.
Everybody has a process and often
articulating your process clearly and
connecting it to benefits for your
clients can skyrocket your business.
And give you a strong positioning.
Win number three,
something to think about.
I want you to be on the lookout for this.
Be on the lookout for
marketing that promises rest.
Try this for the next week or two.
Notice how many marketing messages
like commercials or ads feature
someone stopping or resting?
That could be relaxing on the beach,
enjoying a casual meal with friends,
curling up with a book on the couch.
You name it.
It's often attached to a quote.
You deserve it.
Success undertone.
What success are you pursuing right
now in hopes of achieving more
rest and why is rest so elusive?
Win number four, something personal.
The more, I hang around peers and
friends and colleagues in my same space.
The more, I get excited, but
the more I have to come back
and just check in with myself.
I've got to check on these things.
Number one, I need to make sure I
still have a firm resolve to hold
to my definition of what success
looks like for my business, because
I can be easily swayed by others.
Number two, my personal brand
is simply a means to an end.
And that end is people.
Period.
It's not revenue, it's not
fame, it's other people.
And number three, the best conversations
may take a couple of months or
even a couple of years to develop.
How do you stay grounded and focused
on the things you feel called to do
in your business even when you're
hanging out with others in your same
space who are doing amazing things?
