067: What Makes a Coaching, Consulting, or Training Personal Brand Business Successful?

What makes a coaching, consulting, or training Personal Brand successful? Find out…

Robby: The brand.

Did Podcast with robbie fowler episode 63.

what makes a coaching consulting or
training personal brand successful?

Too many personal brands are stuck
pitching to everybody getting heard

by nobody and settling for anybody.

This show helps high integrity brands
secure and serve the socks off.

More of your dream.

Clients will go beyond marketing hex
and discover how to grow a thriving,

personal brand business based on
radical empathy for your clients.

Welcome to today's episode.

So what makes a coaching consulting
or training personal brand successful?

Well, as you could imagine, there
are lots of answers to that question.

But I want us to focus on one and it
may be one you're not considering.

Keep listening and you're going
to discover, well, what is it?

And number two, why does it threaten
to sabotage our personal brands as

coaches, consultants, or trainers?

And how does it lead to regret?

And then number three, how do we
transform it into a superpower?

So it does not threaten or sabotage
us, but we turn it into a superpower.

So what is it, what is it that
makes a coaching consulting or

training personal brand successful?

And we may even ask, not just what is it.

We may also ask what isn't it?

What is it not?

So what is it?

What makes coaching or consulting or
training personal brands successful is...

defining success for your coaching
consulting or training personal brand.

And we might even say personal brand
life, not just personal brand business.

Because as personal brands, those
two are tied together very closely.

So, what is it?

What makes a coaching consulting or
training personal brand successful?

Well, it's having a
definition of what success is.

Otherwise you have no idea
what you're actually out there

pursuing day in and day out.

So most of us may not think about that.

We, we get in the pursuit of this
thing and we get all caught up.

It is very exciting.

And we fail to actually stop
and define for ourselves.

Well, what is success?

What am I going after in my
coaching consulting or training,

personal brand business and life?

So that's what it is.

What isn't it?

It, isn't a universal definition
that you must somehow go

attain to, or be a failure.

And that's another place where we
can get hung up as personal brands.

There's not some universal definition of
what is a successful coaching consulting

or training personal brand business.

So if there's not a universal
definition, that is true of all

times and all personal brands.

That you somehow just must go
attain or else you're a failure.

That means you need to define
success for your own personal brand.

So that's what it is,
or also what it is not.

Now number two, we said, why does
it threaten to sabotage our personal

brand and oftentimes lead to regret?

We're taking a look at success and
success can be a terrible destination.

Success can be a terrible destination
for a coach, consultant, or trainer who's

trying to grow a personal brand business.

Why can success be a terrible destination?

Success is easily taken hostage.

It is easily redefined.

It is easily reformed or sometimes
even deformed by a third party

like our personal brand heroes.

Like the other gurus in the space.

Like our own past.

Like the culture we find ourselves in.

Like other people's expectations
that we're trying to live up to.

Success is easily taken hostage.

And so if there's not a universal
definition ,and we have not

very intentionally defined
for ourselves what that is...

then it is so elusive, it gets refined.

It gets reformed.

It gets deformed.

Other people start to shape that for us.

Culture.

Context.

Our own past.

Success gets also easily lost.

That's another reason it's
a terrible destination.

You may go grab it, but
it can be very elusive.

And success is easily lost or perhaps
think of it this way, perhaps even more.

So we, as personal brands, as coaches,
consultants, trainers, speakers,

creators, we get so easily lost
ourselves in the pursuit of that success.

So we might say the pursuit of
success leads to the darndest things.

And surely you felt that tension
in your own attempts to grow a

successful personal brand business.

Success is a terrible destination
because it's easily taken hostage.

It's easily lost or we get
easily lost in the pursuit of it.

And we might say that pursuit leads
to the darndest things in us at times.

And then success is a
deceitful distraction.

It's a terrible destination and
it can be a deceitful distraction.

It can get us to a point where it begins
to blow us around kind of like tumbleweed.

I've made the drive from the Dallas Fort
worth area in the United States, all the

way out to the west coast to California.

Much of that takes you through
west Texas, which is flat and dry.

And the only entertainment
is an occasional tumbleweed

blowing across the open Plains.

That's what success can do to us when
we don't define it as a personal brand.

We become that tumbleweed that
gets blown around by comparing

ourselves to our peers.

We get on this dizzy
merry-go-round of comparison.

Of other people in our space.

Of what we think we should be.

Where we should be at.

Success itself can so easily become
a deceitful distraction because we're

putting more and more effort into it.

What makes a coaching consulting or
training personal brand successful.

What is that thing?

One of those things for sure is
defining success for your self, because

there's not a universal definition.

When we fail to have that defined
then we're in a position where

the pursuit of success threatens
to sabotage our personal brand.

And we can attain to what we thought
was success because we never defined it.

And look up and have lots of regret.

Like my life is way too busy.

Or this is not fun.

You know, what that feeling is like.

To chase after something, get
there and then look up and go.

I'm not sure that that
was actually worth it.

So the third thing we said we were going
to tackle is so how do we transform?

How do we transform this from a terrible
destination, from something that can

sabotage our coaching consulting or
training personal brand business?

How do we transform
that into a superpower?

And I think it comes down to this.

We need to strengthen our
muscle of defining success.

We need to strengthen that muscle of
getting clarity around the kind of

personal brand business we want to
build that's worth giving our lives to.

And here's why defining success
is a muscle that most of us as

personal brands desperately need.

But for most of us, it's
very underdeveloped.

That muscle's very underdeveloped.

Here's why.

We've spent the majority of our
lives in contexts where a success

was actually already defined for us.

I think about if you've been on
sports teams, if you've been on

sales teams, the definition of
success came from somewhere else.

It came from a coach.

And professional sports from
a team owner from a contract.

If you're on a sales team, right?

They comes from the sales manager.

It comes from someone else above you.

Here's what success looks like.

We get it from our college GPA's to our
corporate CEOs, someone else so often is

defining what success looks like for us.

So as a personal brand
you look up and find, Hmm.

There's no one else now to tell me to
hand me a definition of what success is.

I don't have a manager.

It doesn't come from a
company or corporation.

It does not come from some
organization that I'm a part of.

It does not come from some team.

There's no outside source handing
me a definition of what this

thing I'm out here trying to
build that I'm very excited about.

How will, I know if it's, if it is
successful, how do I know that this

is something worth giving my self too?

We've never had the opportunity most
of us or the obligation to define what

success is for our coaching consulting or
training personal brand business and life,

because that's always been handed to us.

So how do we transform
it into a superpower?

We said when we need to
strengthen that muscle.

That muscle, that for many of us
has rarely been used because we've

been given a definition of success.

As a personal brand, this is one of
the things that makes it very unique.

It is very different than other contexts.

This is one of the primary reasons.

Nobody else is telling
you what success is.

You've got to strengthen that muscle.

Your definition of success needs
to be at least three things.

Your definition of success needs
to be number one, built by you.

This is your personal brand business,
your consulting, coaching training,

speaker creator, author podcaster.

This is your personal
brand business and life.

So your definition of
what success needs to be.

It needs to be built by
you, not by somebody else.

Number two, it needs to be backed
by your purpose and your passion.

Okay.

So it needs to be built by you.

This is what success looks like.

That definition needs to be built by you.

It needs to be backed up, fueled along.

By your own purpose and passion.

This is why I am out doing this.

This is what I'm passionate about.

This is why I'm doing this.

Okay.

Your definition of success needs
to one, be built by you to be

backed by your purpose and passion.

And number three...

and this is a tough one...

it needs to be better for THE
world, not just your world.

Your definition of success needs
to be built by you backed by your

purpose and passion, and it needs
to be better for the whole world.

Not just your world.

It's very easy to say.

Well, my personal brand.

I'm passionate about this.

I get to go do something I'm passionate
about and I get paid money for it.

And it's great.

So my world looks great.

When I'm out there doing this well.

Okay.

What about the rest of the world?

Oh, I don't know.

It's not even on my radar.

It's very easy to fall into that trap
and go, well, this is way better for

me doing this is way better for me.

Yeah, but is this thing you're
building, is it making the world,

is it better for those that you're
actually helping in serving?

You need to know how it does that.

Why does that.

Because that definition of success,
that purpose, that clarity.

Is what is going to be your primary
motivation when things get tough,

when things aren't clear, it's what
you're going to use to filter through

that merry-go-round of activity.

That comes along with building
a personal brand business.

There's a million things
you could be doing.

There are a million things screaming for
your attention so that you can go attain

to some undefined version of success.

So your definition needs
to be built by you.

Backed by your purpose and passion and
better for the world, not just your world.

And that's not easy to define.

That's not easy to define.

That's a muscle.

We are not used to exercising.

Success.

I said can be a terrible destination.

I want you to think about this success
can be a terrible destination, but

satisfaction is an ideal location.

Too many of us in this personal
brand space, we, we will

blindly start pursuing success.

We will put our head down, we
will put our best foot forward.

We will fill our days and our calendars
with activities and pursuit of success.

While at the very same time we
put satisfaction on layaway.

It's it's for later it's once I
get that success, then there'll

be this level of satisfaction.

I want to offer you something.

I want you to get a headstart
on defining success for your

coaching consulting training.

We're speaker personal brand business.

I want you to imagine, imagine having a
resolved, clarity and confidence around

the kind of personal brand business.

You want to build?

Picture it at the top of your website.

Picture it woven into what you
actually offer your clients.

This clarity, this purpose, this
resolve of this is what I am building.

This is what success is going to be.

And I, and I want you to think of
having a smile come across your face.

As you work with the client on just
an ordinary Thursday afternoon.

And you realize, you know what, I'm
satisfied with this kind of success.

This is what I'm looking for.

I'm not waiting for some other future day.

My definition of success.

Look at me.

I'm satisfied that I am in the
active pursuit of what is worth me.

Giving my life to cause that's
what you do as a personal brand.

So I want you to do join
me for a four week sprint.

I'm calling it the head
start sprint it's four weeks.

There are only six spots available.

Some of those have applications
have already come in.

The deadline to apply is October 17th.

And here's what you're going to
get in this four week sprint.

It's obviously a very small
group I'm working directly with.

You.

And we're going to define that life
giving personal brand business.

You want to give yourself to, we're
going to go after that clarity.

Of what is success?

What is the purpose of the
business you're trying to build?

Let's make sure that
you are clear on that.

So we're going to define the life
giving personal brand business

that you want to give yourself to.

And then we're going to work to
transpose your core purpose onto

your website so that it begins
to attract your dream clients.

And then thirdly, we're
going to take that.

Core purpose.

And we are going to really
translate that into a paid.

Offer that you offer that
could be a current offering

that you have that now we we.

Revise that based on that core purpose,
so that it lines up with the kind

of business you're trying to build,
because just because you can go offer

something, you can generate revenue.

Off of something that does not
necessarily mean it's going to get

you to the kind of personal brand
you're actually satisfied with.

So we're going to translate that
core purpose into a paid offer.

Whether that's something we take
that you're already offering, that

we tweak or bring into alignment of
that, or we craft a brand new offer.

Around that that you say, Hey, have.

If I can start offering this man, that's
really going to bring my business.

Into alignment.

With this definition of success and
satisfaction that I am going after.

I'd love to have you join us
and grab one of those six spots.

You can go to Robbie f.com.

Success can be a terrible
destination, but satisfaction.

Is an ideal location.

success, if you know the purpose, if

you have clarity around the personal
brand business, you're trying to build.

An ordinary Thursday can be a day
where you experience satisfaction

that you are doing what you set out.

To do.
